- Board Sends Amendments to Radium Water Quality Standards to Second Notice On December 15, 2005, the Illinois Pollution Control Board sent to second-notice the rulemaking entitled Revisions To Radium Water Quality Standards: Proposed New 35 Ill. - Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive metal that is commonly found in Illinois groundwater. - The Board retains the standard of 3.75 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) radium 226 and 228, but sets the standard as an annual average value rather than an instantaneous maximum standard. - The Board will accept comments only from JCAR during the second-notice period. | |
