Board Sends to Second Notice Amendments to Volatile Organic Material Rules
March 1, 2007 - On March 1, 2007, the Illinois Pollution Control Board sent to second notice a proposal to amend the volatile organic material (VOM) rules for the Chicago and Metro-East ozone nonattainment areas. The amendments would allow for the use of add-on controls as a compliance option for operations using cold cleaning solvent degreasing. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency filed the rulemaking proposal entitled In the Matter of: Organic Material Emission Standards and Limitations for the Chicago and Metro-East Areas: Proposed Amendments to 35 Ill. Code 218 and 219 (R06-21) on December 22, 2005. Also included in the first-notice proposal are amendments to the “paper coating” note at Appendix H in Parts 218 and 219.
