First, in response to the fact that its proposed chronic standard is only a few parts per billionunder the level know to harm a highly valued Illinois species (the Bluegill), IEPA has claimed thatits standard is actually conservative. UsingWAD cyanide is not conservative, but risky, in that it does not include forms ofcyanide that maybe toxic or that may release free cyanide under other environmental conditions...
