- Illinois Pollution Control Adopts Interim Phosphorus Effluent Standard
The Illinois Pollution Control Board, on January 19, 2006, adopted proposed interim
phosphorus effluent standard docketed as In the Matter of: Interim Phosphorus Effluent
Standard, Proposed New 35 Ill.
- The IEPA expects to file
a rulemaking proposal addressing nutrient water quality standards with the Board in
2007.
- However, if the source can demonstrate that phosphorus is not
limiting nutrient in the receiving water or that alternative phosphorus effluent limits are
warranted by the aquatic environment in the receiving water, the 1.0 mg/L effluent limit
would not apply.
