On August 20, 2015, the Illinois Pollution Control Board proposed for public comment amendments to the Illinois regulations that are “identical-in-substance” to drinking water regulations adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The proposed amendments do not include any direct USEPA actions with regard to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations during the first half of 2015, since no such actions occurred. Instead, the proposal would make needed corrections to the existing rules to accommodate suggestions from the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Agency), as well as corrections initiated by the Board. JCAR staff’s suggestions, which concern limited minor errors in the text of the Illinois rules, were made during the course of the last SDWA update in docket R15-2.
