Board Proposes For First Notice Fluoridation Requirement for Drinking Water
On June 4, 2015, the Board proposed for first notice publication Amendments to Primary Drinking Water Standards 35 Ill. Adm. Code 611, R15-23. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) filed the proposal on May 20, 2015, seeking to amend the fluoridation requirement in the Board’s public water supply regulations. IEPA included two motions, a motion for expedited review and a motion asking the Board to adopt the proposal as an emergency rule while proceeding with expedited review. The Board granted the motion for expedited review, consistent with the Board’s resources, and reserved ruling on the motion to adopt an emergency rule. The Board requested that IEPA provide additional information and invited public comment on whether or not the proposal should be adopted as an emergency rule.
