Additionally, the proposal designates stream segments to receive “enhanced” numeric dissolved oxygen standards to protect DO-sensitive fish and macroinvertebrate species present in meaningful amounts.
There is also much consensus in the record on how the current standard should be amended, such as by adopting DO standards that change seasonally based on the life stages of fish.
The Board thanks all of those who have participated in this rulemaking and especially commends IAWA, DNR, and IEPA for their invaluable contributions to this record.
