R15-4, NAAQS Update, USEPA Amendments (January 1, 2014 through June 30, 2014)
On March 5, 2015, the Illinois Pollution Control Board adopted amendments to the Illinois ambient air quality standards that are “identical in substance” to the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) adopted by USEPA. This rulemaking updates the ambient air quality analytical methods to include all methods recently designated by USEPA through December 18, 2014, the date of the most recent update to the List of Designated Reference and Equivalent Methods. Added to the List of Designated Methods are one new federal equivalent method (FEM) for nitrogen oxides (NOX), two new FEMs for ozone (O3), and one new FEM for lead (Pb) in ambient air that USEPA designated on June 18, 2014. Also included are one new federal reference method (FRM) for fine particulates (PM2.5), one FRM for coarse particulates (PM10 2.5), one new FEM for O3, and one new FEM for carbon monoxide (CO) that USEPA designated on November 4, 2014.
