September 4, 2003 - On September 4, 2003, the Illinois Pollution Control Board adopted a final opinion and order in the rulemaking entitled Noise Rule Update: Amendments to 35 Ill. Adm. Code 900 and 903, R03-08. The Board initiated this rulemaking to amend and update the Board’s noise rules.

Specifically, this rulemaking updates definitions and sound measurement procedures
contained in 35 Ill.
The Board has also repealed Part 903 as legislative changes have exempted organized
sporting events including motor racing facilities from the Boards noise regulations.
