RE:
Fox
Valley
Moraine
Landfill
PCB2007-
146
I
am
addressing
the
comment
by
the
applicant
of
the
above
mentioned
land
fill
that
the
hearings
in
the
Yorkville
community
were
biased
against
the
applicant.
As
a
participant
and
community
member,
I
saw
no
signs
of
bias
against
the
applicant.
The
applicant
was
supported
by
a
retinue
of
attorneys,
engineers
and
many
other
experts.
They
gave
comprehensive
presentations.
The
objecting
group
had
fewer
experts
who
were
given
vigorous
review
by
the
applicant
team.
The
public
was
invited
to
give
comments.
Many
did
so,
as
did
I.
However
despite
the
tremendous
hours
of
research
plus
local
knowledge
of
conditions,
such
as
creek
run
off,
widespread
gravel
seams,
physical
nature
of
the
site,
etc.
these
comments
were
clearly
denoted
as
less
significant
than
that
of
the
experts.
This
comment
was
made
repeatedly.
There
were
no
opportunities
to
have
the
panel
question
the
public.
No
chance
tohave
a
dialog
with
the
panel.
Additionally
the
attorney
for
the
panel
of
city
council
members,
showed
disdain
for
the
public
comments
and
some
of
the
objectors’
experts.
Fortunately,
the
council
members
were
concerned
about
some
of
the
issues
the
objectors
and
community
members
introduced.
For
instance,
the
fact
that
the
drain
system
is
insufficient
to
protect
the
surface
waters
from
contamination
and
control
rain
run-off.
I
feel
that
the
proposed
site
is
not
appropriate
for
a
landfill
due
to
it’s
location
between
two
major
creeks
that
drain
a
large
area
of
the
county
and
the
difficulty
in
protecting
those
waters
and
therefor
the
water
supply
of
a
large
number
of
private
wells.
I
pray
that
you
will
uphold
our
local
decision
to
deny
the
application
for
the
Fox
Valley
Moraine
Landfill.
Sincerely,
Kathleen
