    February
    5,
    2009,
    the
    Board accepted
    for
    hearing
    a site-specific
    rulemaking filed
    on
    October
    17,
    2008,
    by the City
    of Galva
    (Galva). The proposal
    seeks to establish
    an alternative
    water quality
    standard for
    boron that would
    apply
    to certain
    segments
    of an unnamed tributary
    to
    the South Branch
    of the Edwards
    River,
    the South Branch of
    the Edwards
    River, and the
    Mud
    Creek Run.
    On
    March
    31,
    2009,
    a hearing was
    held in Galva,
    Henry
    County.
    Four witnesses testified
    and the
    Board received no
    testimony
    on
    the Department
    of Commerce and
    Economic
    Opportunity’s decision
    not to conduct
    an economic impact
    study on these
    rules.
    At
    the close
    of hearing, April
    30,
    2009,
    was
    agreed to as the date
    for final
    comments
    on
    the rulemaking proposal.
    Therefore,
    all comments that
    persons wish
    the Board to consider
    prior
    to the Board proceeding
    with this
    rulemaking must
    be filed
    by
    April 30, 2009.

    and
    participants
    may file electronically
    on the
    Board’s

    page.
