Re: Case No. AS 08-10
Dear People,

CLERK'S OFFICE

1 -- I request that the IPCB hold a public hearing on this matter at a time and place
convenient to the people of Peoria County and adjacent counties.
2 -- Correction: The legal notice published by Peoria Disposal Co. states that "PDC seeks
the delisting of residues from the treatment of Electric Arc Furnace ("EAF) dust
created by steel mills, which residues are generated at PDC's waste stabilization
facility located at 4349 W. Soutport Rd., Peoria, Illinois 61615."
The legal notice falsely states that the "residues from the treatment of
EAF dust . . . are generated" at PDC's facility. They are in fact generated at steel mills
and then delivered to PDC's stabilization facility" for later landfill disposal.
PDC is
not
the generator. The steel mills are .
PDC simply adds a thickener (stabilizer) to keep the
dust from blowing away while later being dumped into and long left in an open landfill.

P.S. This dust contains toxic materials, and can be loaded with them, I've been advised.
