Dear Members
I am writing to strongly support the decision of the Peoria County Board to deny the expansion of
Peoria Disposal Co
.'s hazardous toxic waste landfill
. I am also doing so on behalf of my
children and grandchildren who will have to live with this problem well into the future
. I think
that is really what has gotten our local residents so upset
.
I would like to recount a personal experience I had last summer while in Wisconsin
. There was
an article in the Green Bay paper which dealt with cleaning up PCBs from the Fox River
. The
article took great delight in saying the hazardous material wouln't be a problem anymore as it
would betaken out of state to a toxic dump in Peoria Illinois
. Wisconsin does a great job of
pushing that it is a "green state" evidently at our expense
. They take our money as tourists and
send back their "crap"
. Please take pride in our State and say "enough is enough"
.
Very truly yours
Je
