Please accept this as comments on the pending appeal before IPCB Hearing Officer Carol Webb
in the above-captioned matter .
My purpose in writing is to voice my support of the Peoria County Board's decision to turn down
PDC's request for a permit to expand its toxic waste landfill in Peoria county
. The Board gave
full and due consideration to PDC's request, and concluded that the site was not safe or
appropriate . Quite simply, the local view is that we should not have to risk the potential
pollution of our drinking water aquifer, pollution to the air we breath, and the related risk to our
and our children's heath by these highly toxic chemicals that are and will be dumped in that
landfill if the permit is granted . Rather, PDC would be better advised to work toward hazardous
chemical disposals that do not involve landfills or hazzards to the welfare of the citizens of
Illinois
.
Through our elected officials to the Peoria County Board we do not want that hazardous waste
landfill in our backyard, nor do we wish to be the dumping grounds for other cities and states
that also don't want such a landfill in their backyards
.
Thanks you for your consideration of my expressed views
.
