    Dear Illinois Pollution Control Board,
I appreciate this opportunity to express my opinionregarding the Waste
Management landfill expansion proposal. The Kankakee County Board, after careful
deliberations, rejected this proposal. I believe their decision was based on a number of
    factors,
including environmental impact, need, and public outcry. I support the judgment
ofour County Board in opposition to further expansion ofthe landfill.
1 nowjoin the voices ofthose who refuse to see their county turn to refuse for the
monetary gain ofWaste Management or any other company. I can understand why this
(orany) corpOration wotild endeavor to protect their assets and to ensure healthy returns
on their investments. I appeal to you to consider the families and individuals residing in
Karikakee County. We too endeavorto protect ourassets: our land, our water, our air,
and our children. We too hope to ensure a healthy environment for ourselves, our
    children and theirs.
Dealing with our ownwaste is an issue to be taken seriously. From what I have
read Kankakee County can do that without expansion to the existing facility. The
Kankakee County Board has acted in a manner which they (and I) believe will serve the
best interests ofthe community at large. They have acted responsibly to protect their
public. I appeal to you to do the same. Let their decision stand.
    Respectfully,
    Cynthia A. Reddish
