RE:
DCEO Response to Request for Determination on Economic Impact Study in
RulemakinE DocketR05-08
Dear Chairman Novak:
Thank you very much for your October 28, 2004 letter requesting a determination as to whether
the Department ofCommerce
and
Economic Opportunity intends to conduct an economic impact
study
ofthe proposed rules in the above-referenced docket.
The Department has reviewed the amendments to the Standards for Universal Waste
Management
(35
JIL Adm. Code Parts 703, 720, 721,
724,725,728
and 733) proposed by the
Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
Based on this review, and in light of continued fiscal
constraints, the Department has decided not to conduct a study ofthe economic impact ofthe
proposed rules, pursuant to
415
ILCS
5127(b).
Thankyou for soliciting the Department ofCommerce and Economic Opportunity’s input in this
matter.
Sincerely,
Director
