The proponent ofthis rulemaking is the Environmental Protection Agency (Agency).
The
Agency proposes to amend the water quality standard for radium from

picocurie per liter
(pCi/L) to 5pCi/L and change the standard’s applicability from general use and Lake Michigan
basin waters to apply only to public
and food processing water supplies.
The Board accepted this
matterfor hearing on January 22, 2004.
The Board will hold an additional hearing in this proceeding beginning October 21, 2004
at
1:30 p.m.
and continuing on October 22,
2004, at 9 a.m., if necessary.
On October 21,
2004,
the hearing will be held at the Michael A. Bilandic Building in Chicago.
On October 22, 2004,
the hearing will continue
at the James R.
Thompson Center, room 2025, also in Chicago.’
The
purpose ofthe hearing will be to allow questions to be asked ofWRT Environmental’s
witnesses, who presented testimony at the last hearing in this rulemaking, held in Springfield on
August
25,
2004.
