Please answer the following questions at the hearing scheduled in this matter for August

1. Does the Agency believe that radium is harmful to aquatic life at some level?
2. Ifthe answer to question #1 is “yes”, does the Agency have any estimate of what level of
radium maybe harmful to aquatic life?
3. If the answer to question #2 is “yes”, what level is thought to be potentially harmful?
4. Is radium bio-accumulative?
5.
What scientific literature or other information has the Agency reviewed to determined the
potential risk to aquatic life from radium?
6. Please estimate how much money Illinois dischargers will save if the amendments to standards
are approved.
