ORDER OF THE BOARD (by J. Theodore Meyer):
This matter is before the Board on a March 11, 1998, “Agreed Motion for Stay”
(motion) filed by complainant, People of the State of Illinois, and respondent, Geon Company.
In the motion, the parties request that the Board stay the time within which respondent is
required to respond to the “Second Amended Complaint,” which was filed by complainant on
    February 17, 1998.
Section 101.243 of the Board’s procedural rules indicate that, should respondent choose
to challenge the allegations set forth within the “Second Amended Complaint,” it must do so
within 21 days of the filing of the “Second Amended Complaint.” In the motion, the parties
indicate that they are currently involved in settlement negotiations and believe that such
discussions may obviate the need for additional proceedings in this matter. Accordingly, the
parties request the Board grant respondent sixty (60) days within which to file any response or
answer and affirmative defense to the “Second Amended Complaint.”
The Board hereby grants the parties’ request to stay this matter for sixty (60) days.
Respondent must file any response or answer and affirmative defense on or before May 18,
    1998.
    IT IS SO ORDERED.
I, Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control Board, hereby certify that
the above order was adopted on the 19th day of March 1998, by a vote of 7-0.
    Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk
    Illinois Pollution Control Board
