Dear Mr. Halloran and Members of IPCB
Thank you Mr. Halloran for traveling to our community
for the hearing and to listen to out petitions.
There are excellent reasons to support the decision
of the Mdllenry County Board concerning the Lowe Waste
Transfer Station.
1. The location is inadequate. The facility is too
small to handle recycling which shpuld be a consideration
for any transfer station inthese times. The Pollution Control
Board appreciates this fact I’m sure.
2. The establishment of such a function so close to
grocery stores, eateries, other businesses, conservation
and recreational areas and homes will be destructive and
incompatible. McHenry County has acres and acres of empty land
where such a facility would be logical and not intrusive.
3. Route~14, Three Oaks Road and Route 31 are already
nearing and at times beyond capacity. The accumulation of
so many garbage trucks an~semi trailers slowing to turn
in and out of a narrow drive will add immeasurably to the
confusion and frustration of motorists as well as increase
the likelihood of traffic accidents.
We depend upon those of you who review this decision
to see clearly how this will have depreciatingeffects on
the surrounding areas and the areas the trucks will have
to travel through. Kindly agree with the McHenry County Board
and the citizens who will have to live with your decision.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Alexander
