Subject: McHenry County Waste Transfer Station
Dear Dorothy Dunn:
We wanted to let you kflow that we fully support the McHenry County
Board’s decision to deny Marshall Lowe’s application for a waste
transfer facility next to Cary, Illinois along Illinois Route 14. The
location is adjacent to a sensitive conservation area, the Hollows, and
is just over 1000 feet from the largest residential subdivision in Cary.
The location also borders a parcel of land that has been approved for
residential and commercial development.
The proposed waste transfer facility is too small, would generate a
large volume of noise pollution to surrounding property owners, there
would be potential for groundwater pollution, increased litter along
Route 14, increased traffic, and, of course, there would be smell.
Clearly, the public health, safety and welfare would be impossible to
protect with the proposed design.
Sincerely,
P. Allen
