VILLAGE OF ROSCOE, ILLINOIS
INTERIM ORDER ON PETITION FOR VARIANCE (by Mr. Henss)
Petitioner Village of Roscoe, Illinois requests a
thirty day variance from the Environmental Protection Act
and the Regulations of this Board regarding open burning
for the purpose of disposing of eighty trees which were
blown down by a storm. The allegations of the petition
are inadequate and it is hereby dismissed with leave to
file an amended petition on or before September 29, 1972.
The amended petition should allege facts showing the
anticipated weather and atmospheric conditions and time of
the proposed burning, description of the area in which the
burning is to take place, feasibility of using an air curtain
destructor, availability and cost of alternatives to burning
(such as chipping) and factual allegations regarding the
hardship to petitioner.
The Petition for Variance is dismissed with leave to
file an amended petition on or before September 29, 1972.
