    Preliminary Order of the Board (by Mr. Dumelle)
    This is a petition for variance requesting permission to use copper
    sulfate in the City1s water supply reservoir in order to limit algae growth
    therein. The petition, however, lacks certain information which would be
    essential to a final determination of the case. The needed facts are as
    follows:
    1.
    Reservoir dimensions
    -
    surface area, average depth, volume.
    2.
    Dosages of copper sulfate which would be necessary in pounds
    and frequency and the resulting copper concentrations.
    3.
    Effect of previous copper sulfate dosages on the fish and
    other aquatic life in the reservoir.
    4.
    Feasibility of alternatives to the use of copper sulfate.
    It is herewith ordered that additional information as outlined above
    be filed with the Board and the Agency by September 8, 1972. The additional
    information shall constitute an amended petition and the petitioner shall include
    a statement that the 90 day period provided for in Title 9, Section 38 of the
    Environmental Protection Act shall commence as of the date of filing of the
    amended petition.
    In the absence of the filing of an amended petition on or before September 8,
    1972, the original petition will be subject to dismissal.

    hereby certify the above Preliminary Order of the Board was adopted on the
