    ORDER OF THE BOARD
    (by Mr. Dumelle)
These two variance petitions request permission
    to dose water
    supply reservoirs with copper sulfate
in excess of the State Water
    Pollution Control Regulations
    limit of 0.02 mg/l
    as copper.
The Village of Sorento petition is inadequate since
    it does
    not give
the amount and frequency of the requested dosage of copper
sulfate and the resulting concentration in the drinking water.
    Furthermore,
    no statement is given
    as
to the existence of fish life
and the depth of the reservoir.
    No statement is given as
    to the
cost and efficacy of using biodegradable algicides
    or other methods
    outlined in recent Board opinions
    (see City of LaHarpe,
    et a1~
    PCB
    72-168, August
    8,
    1972 and City of Paris,
    et al, PCB
    72-277,
    August
    15,
    1972.)
The Triple Oaks Water Company petition is also inadequate for
the same reasons given above except that it has provided the amounts
    and frequency of application.
    The petitioners
are ordered to provide the needed information
    to
    the Board by June
7, 1973 or face dismissal of the petition as being
    inadequate.
    A waiver of the
90-day decision period from the date of
initial filing to the new date of the amended petition shall also be
    submitted by June
    7,
    1973.
    The Agency
is requested to supply the petitioners with copies of
the Board opinions cited above for guidance.
    IT
    IS SO ORDERED.
