DEBORAH GARRETT
V.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
OPINION AND ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by Mr.
Dumelle)
A petition received April
19,
for
a new house not yet started in
Forest.
The Board has a sewer ban
Sanitary District area since March
PCB 73-160
1973 asks
for a sewer permit
the southeast corner of Lake
in effect in the North Shore
1971.
The petition does not state to which sewage treatment plant
the new home would discharge.
Pending before
the Board
is
a
variance proceeding
involving the Clavey Road Plant
(PCB
73-134)
and it
is possible that the Board’s decision in this matter may
affect the petitioner’s property.
The petition gives no grounds
for hardship different from
other petitions which the Board has denied.
The purpose of a
sewer ban is
to prevent connections until
adequate sewage treatment
is made available.
The North Shore Sanitary District is pursuing a
multi-million dollar expansion and improvement program that should
solve the problems which
led to the sewer ban.
The petition is denied without prejudice
IT
IS SO ORDERED
I, Christan
L. Moffett, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control
Board, hereby certify
