Petition in PCB 73-399 is inadequate in that it does not

state the effects upon surrounding

air

quality of the emission

of 2093 lbs. of SO2 during a two-hour period every four days.

No details are given as to the proximity of people or animals

or susceptible vegetation to these emissions, nor are the

resulting concentrations estimated.

The petitionsin

PCB 73-400 and PCB 73-401 are not adequate

in that no statement (except a conclusory one) is given as to

the effects upon the environment and upon the public of the

c;rant ot the variance.

Petitioner shall furnish data as to

the existing level of ambient hydrocarbons and the occurrence,

if any, of photochemical smog and oxidants and what reductions

in

these parameters will be obtained upon completion of the proposed

compliance program.

A hearing shall be held on all three listed cases, which may

he consolidated at the pleasure of the hearing Off:icer.

The

information lacking shall be furnished by the petitioner within

35 clays from the date of this order.
