ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY,
 )
Respondent.
ORDER OF THE BOARD
 (by Mr.
 Henss):
The Board has been informed
that this variance proceeding
is not yet ready for decision because hearings are still in
progress and the parties have been engaged in discussions
directed toward amicable resolution of issues.
 Decision is
due July 19, 1974 unless Granite City Steel waives the pro-
visions of Section
 38 Environmental Protection Act relating
to the time for final action by the Pollution Cdntrol Board.
The Board finds that Granite City Steel has waived the
provisions of Section
38 of the Act to and including September
 17,
1974 and this waiver is hereby accepted.
It
is further found that, pending final disposition of this
variance proceeding, the variances heretofore granted in PCB 70—34
and PCB 73-26 should be extended until September 17,
 1974.
It
is further found that the. handling of this matter will
be expedited by the early receipt of any available transcripts
of those hearings which have already been conducted, especially
since the evidence seems to be voluminous and the Board may
require more than the ordinary period of time in which to
prepare its Opinion before the September 17,
 1974 deadline.
Therefore,
 it
 is ORDERED that:
1.
Granite City Steel is granted interim variance
extensions of each of the existing variances granted
in PCB 70-34 and 73—26
 to and including September 17,
1974.
