ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by Mr. Dumelle):
The Pollution Control Board hereby grants Petitioners
a variance
from Rule 203(h)
of Chapter
3:
Water Pollution Regulations,
in order
to apply rotenone during the Fall of 1975
to Round Lake
subject to the following conditions:
(a)
that Petitioner place public notices
in area news-
papers which state the date on which rotenone will
be applied to Round Lake,
said notices to inform
the public that Round Lake will be closed
to all
primary and secondary uses,
including but not limited
to swimming, boating, fishing,
and camping until
further notification;
(b)
that the area adjacent to Round Lake be posted
with signs
to indicate that the Lake
is closed
for public use;
(c)
that application of the rotenone, and if necessary
potassium permanganate, be done by a Department of
Conservation fishery biologist;
(d)
that the dead fish be disposed of at
a sanitary
landfill or in such other manner as to prevent
pollution or
a public health hazard;
(e)
that Petitioner provide the Agency, prior to adrnin-
istration of the fish toxicant, with a written statement
from the Round Lake Park District,
that
it consents to
the treatirg of Round Lake with rotenone.
