    ORDER OF THE BOARD
    (by Mr. Henss):
    Petitioner requests a six months variance to operate
    Unit No.
    3 at its Meredosia Power Station at maximum load
    conditions which may exceed the Illinois standard for
    particulate emissions and to operate
    all its units
    at
    Meredosia though such operation may result in sulfur dioxide
    omissions in excess of existing Rule 204(e) of the Illinois
    Air Pollution Control Regulations.
    The Petition does not
    furnish the information which will be necessary for com-
    pliance with the recent United States Supreme Court decision,
    Train, Administrator etc.
    vs. Natural Resources Defense
    ~:ouncil (No.
    73--l742).
    Under that decision it will be
    necessary
    to establish that the variance does not interfere
    with the attainme~itand subsequent maintenance of national
    ambient air quality standards.
    The Petition does not allege
    any facts from which the Board could draw such
    a conclusion.
    Petitioner
    is ordered to amend the Petition within 45 days
    of this Order supplying the missing information.
    Petitioner
    shall also file
    a written statement which provides that the
    90 day period for deciding this variance petition will commence
    with the filing of the additional information or the filing of
    an amended petition for variance.
    If Petitioner does not
    comply with this Order the petition for variance will be
    dismissed for inadequacy.
