    On June
    2, 1975, the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company
    (Firestone)
    filed a Petition for Variance with the Illinois Pol-
    lution Controi E~oard (Board).
    Firestone requested
    a Variance
    from Rule 204
    (C)
    (2)
    (A) of Chapter
    2, Air Pollution Regulations,
    for one year to allow the use of approximately 820,000 gallons of
    No.
    6 fuel oil with
    a maximum sulfur content of 1.8
    by weight,
    in order to consume existing supplies on hand as of May 30,
    1975.
    This oil
    is standby fuel for three boilers located at the Fire-
    stone plant in D’3catur, Illinois, which provide building heat
    and process steam for tire manufacturing operations.
    The three
    boilers involved
    (Nos.
    4,
    5, and
    6)
    in this Petition for Variance
    are fired with natural gas from Illinois Power Company as a
    primary fuel and residual oil as
    a standby fuel for use during
    periods of natural gas interruption.
    There is no discharge con-
    trol equipment on these boilers.
    On June
    6,
    1975, the Board requested more information
    concerning the a~nbientair quality in the area affected by Peti—
    tioner’s faci1it~. This information is needed by the Board
    in
    order to evaluat~?air quality in relation to the United States
    Supreme Court decision, Train v. Natural Resources Defense Council,
    43 LW 4467
    (April 15, 1975).
    Firestone was given thirty
    (30) days
    to supply the needed air quality information to the Board or
    subject its Petition for Variance to dismissal for inadequacy.
    Firestone has not submitted the requested air quality
    information to the Board.
    Therefore,
    It Is The Order.of the
    Illinois Pollution Control Board that the instant Petition for
    Variance is hereby dismissed for inadequacy.
    IT IS SO ORDERED.
