ORDER OF THE BOARD

(by Mr. Goodman):

On July

19, 1976,

the Mining Industry Task Force on Impulsive

Noise and Vibration

(Task Force),

which was established by the

Institute for Environmental Quality,

submitted

a letter to the

Board requesting the Board to change the effective date of Noise

Rule 206

(Impulsive Sound), as applied to explosive blasting in

open pit surface mining, from August

9,

1976,

to August

9, 1978.

The Task Force also submitted the reasons supporting the requested

change.

In accordance with the agreement of the Chairman of the Task

Force, the Board hereby accepts the July

30,

1976 letter as a regu-

latory proposal submitted by the Task Force.

The Board waives the

200-signature requirement of Section 28 of the Environmental Protec-

tion Act and orders that the matter be set for hearing.
