Members of the
Board:
I
am writing to voice my concerns over Sutter Sanitation Services application for
a
permit to locate a solid waste transfer station
across the
road from where
I farm
in
Effingham County.
I
am the owner and operator of Stock Farms Inc. and rent the farm
adjacent to this proposed site from Stock and
Co.
LLC.
I
have not been involed
in the local
County Boards’
permit process nor do
I
wish to
be.
My concern
is based strictly on the future everyday business that will
be conducted
there.
I
do not see how garbage can be transfered here everyday without it utimately
becoming
a problem.
Going into exsisting older farm
buildings that never were
designed for this type of project will
almost always lead to unforseen problems
in the
future. As Sutter Sanitation’s business grows (I’m sure
it will), they will be confined to
space they now occupy. The increased traffic will only enhance the
potential for wind
blown trash going everywere and increase the possibility of spills. This site formerly
housed
a grain elevator that sold farm
chemicals and might already hold potential
contamination.
1 fully realize there are many regulations Sutters will
have to follow to operate this
business and
Ido
not want to impede their desire to run this business.
I believe they
would be better suited
in the
long run to construct facilities that are designed for this
type of business.
Thank You,
Phil Stock
