REPUBLIC STEEL CORPORATION,
Petitioner,
v.
)
PCB 77—189
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY,
Respondent.
ORDER OF
THE
BOARD (by Mr. Dumelle):
On August 4, 1977 the Board ordered Petitioner to provide
more information in its variance petition or be subject to
dismissal. Specifically the Board ordered Petitioner to re-
quest or waive a hearing and to assess the environmental im-
pact of the requested relief.
On October 17, 1977 the petition was amended in two
respects. A hearing was requested and the amount of reductions
in sulphuric acid mist contemplated in the variance was projected.
The Board has still not been apprised of the effects of
Petitioner’s emissions on human, plant, and animal life. There
is no data describing the existing air quality which this dis-
charge affects. Consequently this petition still fails to meet
the requirements of Procedural Rule 401(a) (7). If this deficiency
is not corrected within 45 days of the date of this Order, this
petition will be subject to dismissal.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
I, Christan L. Moffett, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution
Control Board, hereby certify thp above Order was adopted on
