P03 80—215
ILLINOIS ENVIRONMENTAL
)
PROTECTION AGENCY,
Respondent.
SUPPLEMENTAL STATEMENT
(by J.D. Dumelle):
This case revolves on the Petitioner’s program of trans-
ferring the outlet for
a street drainage inlet from the 30”
combined
sewer
to the 48” storm sewer.
An inspection of Petitioner’s Exhibit 8C shows what
appears
to be another existing street inlet just west of the
manhole at the intersection of Main and Hickory streets.
If this inlet could also be reconnected to the 48” storm sewer
and disconnected from the 30” combined sewer then downstream
basement backups might be relieved,
at least in part.
There may be other street drainage inlets along
Main
Street north of Hickory Street that could also be reconnected
to the storm sewer and removed from the combined sewer.
The
village of Lombard should check this low cost possibility
of reducing damage and danger from basement backups in this
area.
