ORDER OF THE BOARD (by G.T. Girard):
Section 9.1(e) of the Environmental Protection Act (Act) requires the Board to adopt
regulations which are “identical in substance,” as defined at Section 7.2 of the Act, to
exemptions from the definition of “volatile organic material” (VOM) those compounds that the
United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has found to be exempted from
regulation under state implementation plans for ozone due to negligible photochemical
reactivity. USEPA has codified these exemptions as part of its definition at 40 C.F.R.
51.100(s). Accordingly, the Board reserved this docket for USEPA amendments during the
    period from July 1, 1998, and December 31, 1998.
During the period from July 1, 1998, and December 31, 1998, USEPA did not amend
its definition of VOM. Therefore, the Board hereby dismisses this docket.
    IT IS SO ORDERED.
I, Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control Board, do hereby certify
that the above order was adopted on the 18th day of February 1999 by a vote of 7-0.
    Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk
    Illinois Pollution Control Board
