1988,
the
General Assembly approved the transfer of certain submerged land
beneath Lake Michigan
to Loyola University.
Loyola has submitted
applications
for necessary permits
for
a “lakefill” project with
the Army Corps
of Engineers
(Corps)
and the Illinois Department
of Transportation
(IDOT).
Given the degree of public interest
in
this matter,
IDOT and the Corps are holding
a joint public
hearing.
In the interests of administrative economy,
the Board
will join
in conducting this hearing
as well.
The Board, with
the concurrence
of the Chairman, appoints as
its hearing officer
in this matter Mr. Richard Christopher,
of the IDOT Office of
Chief Counsel.
