ILLINOIS POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD
January 11,
1990
IN THE
MATTER
OF:
)
SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT
)
R88-26
REGULATIONS
)
(Rulemaking)
ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by J. Anderson):
On January
10, 1990,
the Environmental Protection Agency
(Agency)
filed a request
to extend the public comment period
in
this matter for an additional
30 days,
from January 15 until
February
15,
1990.
The Agency noted
that the complexity of the issues
raised
in,
this voluminous rulemaking has strained their resources.
The
Agency attached a letter from the Chief
of the Drinking Water
Section, Region
5 of the USEPA, agreeing that the extension for
the Agency would be beneficial.
The USEPA also noted
that
it
would nevertheless attempt file its comments by the earlier,
January
15,
1990 deadline.
The Board grants the Agency’s motion.
Also,
the earlier
submittal of comments by the USEPA will greatly assist
the Board
in pacing our own workload in response to
the comments.
We also
note that this same day
in
a separate action,
the Board has
ordered that a
“reason for
delay’1 notice be published in the
Illinois Register because of the possible applicability of
provisions requiring such notice contained in Section 7.2 of the
Environmental Protection Act.
IT
IS SO ORDERED.
I,
Dorothy
M. Gunn, Clerk
of the Illinois Pollution Control
Board, hereby certify
