    Respondent.
ORDER OF THE BOARD (by B. Forcade):
On December 20, 1989, Metro Utility Company (“Metro”) filed
a Petition for Variance from restricted status for its public
water supply, as it applies to the Board’s limitation on iron of
1.0 mg/l. This matter is accepted and will be held for the
    Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (“Agency”)
    recommendation.
At page 8, paragraph 22, of the petition, Metro asserts that
testing by the Agency showed iron concentrations of 50.60 mg/l on
July 6, 1989. The Agency is directed to inform the Board in its
recommendation as to whether the Agency believes this value is
correct. And if so, what are the anticipated health and
environmental impacts from such levels. Also, the Agency is
directed to inform the Board whether Metro’s water supply was
placed on restricted status because of high iron concentrations,
or low water pressure or both. See Attachment 8 to the petition.
    IT IS SO ORDERED
I, Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control
Board, hereby certi that the above Order was adopted on the
