ORDER OF THE BOARD (by C.A. Manning):
On July 14, 2000, petitioner Illinois American Water Company (IAWC) and the Illinois
Environmental Protection Agency filed a joint motion for expedited decision. The parties
explain that, pursuant to statements that IAWC made to the Illinois Commerce Commission,
IAWC’s new water treatment facility in Alton, Illinois must begin operation as scheduled by
December 31, 2000. In order to begin operation by that date, IAWC must begin start-up
procedures by early October 2000. The start-up procedures will test and refine the ability of the
new facility to serve the Alton area. The start-up procedures will also allow IAWC to address
any problems prior to December 31, 2000.
The Board grants the parties’ joint motion for expedited decision consistent with the
Board’s resources and decision times.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
Board Member G.T. Girard abstained.
I, Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control Board, hereby certify that the
above order was adopted on the 27th day of July 2000 by a vote of 5-0.
