ILLINOIS POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD
    March 28,
    1991
    IN THE MATTER OF:
    )
    STEPAN COMPANY
    )
    AS 88-2
    (Adjusted Standards)
    ORDER OF THE BOARD BY
    (J.
    C. Marlin):
This matter is before the Board on Petitioner Stepan
    Company’s
    (“Stepan”)
Status Report and Motion to Hold Hearings in
    Abeyance filed March
    13,
    1991.
    The status report and
accompanying motion advises the Board that Stepan’s appeal of the
    Federal Implementation Plan
    (FIP)
has now been severed from that
    of co-petitioners’
    in that federal proceeding,
    in order for the
United States Environmental Protection Agency and Stepan to
jointly work toward a federal site specific regulatory proposal
    for Stepan.
Stepan believes its state action should now be held
in abeyance while its federal action moves forward.
    The current
state docket should be retained, Stepan argues,
    for completion of
    the state adjusted standard rulemaking.
    Stepan advises that
status reports of its progress on the federal level would be
    filed every
90 days should the Board grant this motion.
    Stepan~smotion is granted.
    Stepan shall provide the Board
    with
a status report of progress on the federal rulemaking on or
    before June
    28,
1991 and every 90 days thereafter until the
    federal rulemaking
    is either granted or denied.
    Thereafter, both
parties are ordered to move as expeditiously as possible toward
    the completion of this docket.
    IT IS SO ORDERED.
    I,
    Dorothy M. Gunn,
Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control
    Board
hereby certify that the above Ord~rwas adopted on the
