ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by J.C. Marlin):
On July 1,
1992, General Electric
(GE) filed a status report,
“with the agreement of” the Agency,
as directed by the Board’s
order of May 7,
1992.
GE reports that it and the Agency met in
Springfield on June
1,
1992 to discuss proposals for completion of
closure activities and settlement of this permit appeal.
On June
26,
1992, GE submitted to the Agency a proposal outlining the steps
that GE will take to complete the closure of GE’S hazardous waste
drum storage area.
GE
reports
that
it
expects
the Agency
will
discuss
this
proposal with GE within the next few weeks
so that a final draft
closure plan amendment can be submitted to the Agency for approval
GE also states that the hearing offic~indicated that he will be
scheduling
a hearing for the end of September,
in the event that
the parties cannot agree on a final plan for closure activities.
The parties are directed to file an updated status report on
or before September 15, 1992 in the event that no hearing has been
scheduled in this matter at that time.
