    THE
    CRIGOLEIT
    COMJAN~
    Respondent.
    ORDER OF THE BOARD
    (by J.
    Anderson):
    On August
    16,
    1993,
    The Griqoleit Company
    (Grigoleit)
    and
the People of the State of Illinois
    (People)
    filed
    a joint status
report and a motion to continue (Status report)
    .
    The filing
    comes
    in response
    to the Board’s July 22,
    1993 order directing
the parties to file status reports with the Board by August
    16,
    1993.
    In their status report,
the parties request the Board to
continue this matter until September 16,
    1993 to allow the
•parties to formalize a “tentative settlement subject to agreeing
to the terms and conditions of the settlement document.”
    (Status
    report at
    1.)
    In support
of their request, the parties assert that they
    met on July 26,
    1993
    and reached an agreement
    in principle
subject to review by respective principals.
    On August 12,
    1993
the People sent suggested settlement revisions to the proposal
that Grigoleit provided at the July 26th meeting.
    Grigoleit has
    not completed
its review of the People’s suggested revisions,
    its
attorney having been on vacation on August 12,and
    13 until August
    16.
    The parties assert that,
    if agreement
    is reached, they will
either request a settlement hearing or request a waiver of such
hearing with the Board by September
    16,
    1993.
    In the
    alternative,
Grigoleit will notify the Board by September
    16,
    1993 that settlement
    is not possible.
    The Board notes that this
is the eighth motion to continue
this matter for the purpose of settlement negotiations, and that
    the parties had
in its prior status report agreed
    to file by
    August
    16,
    1993 the same filings that
it now asks to be postponed
    to September
    16,
    1993.
    (See Board order,
    July 22,
    1993.)
However, with the understanding that the parties have firmly
    committed
to filing with the Board by September
    16,
    1993
    a
    decision regarding
    a settlement,
    one way or the other,
    the Board
    accepts
the joint status report and grants the parties’ request
    to continue.
The parties are directed to file one of the
    aforementioned documents
    no
    later than September
    16,
    199:3.
