    ORDER OF THE BOARD

    This matter is before the Board on Quantum’s June
    1,
    1993,
    filing of its amended petition for adjusted standard.
    On July
    1,
    1993,
    the Agency filed a motion for extension of time to file its
    response to petitioner’s amended petition.
    On July 16, 1993,
    the
    Agency filed its response.
    In its amended petition,
    Quantum supplies most of the
    information requested by the Board in its March 25,
    1993 order.

    However, Quantum does state
    that with regard to question eight of the March 25,
    1993 Board
    order, that test work was still in progress and the requested
    information could not be provided until the testing was
    completed.

    Quantum estimated that the
    information from the tests would be available around July 15,
    1993.

    The Board hereby grants Quantum an extension of
    time until August
    22,
    1993,
    to assemble the test data and provide
    the following information as requested in the March 25,
    1993
    Board order:
    A discussion,
    with supporting data,
    to indicate whether
    the following conditions
    (taken from Exh.
    F description
    of potential water quality impacts of suspended solids
    in streams;
    page
    8)
    have been observed in Aux Sable
    Creek:
    a.
    increases in turbidity,
    resulting
    in decreased growth of aquatic
    plant life;
    b.
    Blanketing of the bottom of the
    stream,
    limiting or preventing the
    growth of benthic invertebrate
    organisms;
    C.
    Impacts on fish;
    either mortality
    or reduced growth rate and disease
    resistance;
    d.
    Prevention of successful

    development of fish eggs and
    larvae, due to blanketing of the
    stream bottom with sediment;
    e.
    Modification of the natural
    movement and migrations of fish;
    f.
    Reduction of the available food
    supply for fish
    (e.g., plankton);
    and
    g.
    Reduced efficiency in catching
    fish.
    The Agency motion for an extension of time is hereby granted
    and its response to petitioner’s amended petition is accepted.
    The Board notes that the Agency will be allowed to amend its
    response after Quantum completes its amended petition.
    The Board notes that on March 11,
    1993 the Board issued an
    order granting Donald Bekker’s request for hearing.
    However,
    the Board will not set this matter for hearing until all the
    requested information has been submitted by Quantum and the
    Agency has a chance to amend its response
    if
    it so chooses.
