INTERIM ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by J.D. Dumelle):
An Opinion and Order was issued in this case on October
4,
1979, ordering the Respondent to submit a plan to minimize
overflows of its sewers to the Board and the Agency within
60 days.
It was further ordered that the Respondent,
as
expeditiously
as possible, pursue its efforts through federal
grant procedures in obtaining federal funding for improvement
of its sewage treatment facilities.
Respondent’s proposed plan was received by the Board
on January
10,
1980,
and the Agency’s response was received
by the Board on April
28,
1980
(dated April
24,
1980)
indicating
disapproval of the plan and citing the need for a suitable
alarm system at the Elrose Court pumping station.
The
recommendation also notes Respondentvs failure to apply
for
construction grant monies.
The Board
is in substantial agreement with the Agency’s
recommendations and finds that the submitted plan is unacceptable.
The Board further finds that any plan which does not include
a suitable alarm system will also be unacceptable.
It is therefore ordered that within 60 days of this Order,
Respondent shall
submit to the Board and the Agency acceptable
changes in its proposed plan which shall include the installation
and operation of an alarm system at the Elrose Court pumping
station that meets the Illinois Recommended Standards
for
Sewage Works
(Section 35).
The Board further reiterates its
previous Order that Respondent expeditiously pursue funding
for improvement of its sewage treatment facilities.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
