In the Matter of~Natural Gas Fired Peak Load Electrical Power Generating Facilities (Peaker
    Plants) R-01-10
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend today’s hearing on peaker plants. Let me say how much I
appreciate the time and effort the IPCB is putting into this important
    issue.
    The seemingly
    indiscriminate
sitting of power plants has been of concern for some time. During the summer, I
joined with Senator Terry Link in asking Governor Ryan fora moratorium on these plants until we
better understand their effects on the local communities and our air quality overall. Please
consider delaying issuance of the air permits until your inquiries are finished and your
recommendations are enacted. The people of Will County are grateful for your consideration.
