    ORDER OF THE BOARD
    (by J. Anderson):
    On June 17, 1980,
    the Environmental Protection Agency proposed
    amendments to Rules 312 and 405 of Chapter 2:
    ~\irPollution.
    The
    purpose of this proposal
    is to make Illinois’ ozone standards and
    criteria for declaring ozone episode stages identical to the current
    federal
    standard and criteria.
    They are currently more restrictive.
    The following is the text of the proposed changes.
    Deletions
    are interlined and new language is underlined.
    Rule 312:
    ~
    Ozone.
    (a)
    Standard.
    The ambient air quality standard for
    ~
    ozone is ~69 235 micrograms per cubic meter
    +Q~G8—pp~*(0.12 ppm) maximum one—hour concentration not to he
    exceeded Me~e-~h—eI~ee-pe~-yea~
    on more than one day per year.
    (b)
    Measurement ~1ethod. For determining conformance
    with ~he~eeheM~e -e8a~s ozone air quality
    standard, ~
    ~
    ozone shall he measured by the ozone—ethylene reaction
    method as described in 36 Federal Register, pp.
    22392—22393,
    November 25, 1971,
    or by an equivalent method approved by the Agency.
    Rule 405:

    merits of this proposal.

    The Board withholds judgment on the merits of this proposed
    rule until the public hearings have been held and the testimony
    and comments have been received.
