This matter comes before the Board upon

petition for variance filed on behalf
of the City
of
Dixon
requesting variance from the total suspended solids and five—day
biochemical oxygen demand limitations applicable
to its
wastewater treatment faci1ity~
That
petition fails
to
discuss
the possible use of stilling wells
or canti:Levered weirs
in the
final clarifiers as
a compliance alternative,.
These devices
direct the density currents temporarily so as not
to short
circuit the settling path and increase clarifier effciency.
Unless the City files an amended petition within
45 days of
the date of this Order correcting that defect,
this proceeding
will be subject to dismissaL
