House
Bill 2491, presently awaiting the Governor’s signature,
amends
various provisions of the Environmental Protection Act as they
relate to potentially infectious medical wastes.
New Title XV:
Potentially Infectious Medical Waste includes several legislative
mandates for Board rulemaking.
One such mandate is new Section
56.2(e), which requires that the Board “adopt rules that are
identical
in substance to the list of etiological agents
identified as Class 4 agents as set forth in ‘Classification of
Etiological Agents on the Basis of Hazard,
1974’, published by
the Centers for Disease Control
CDC).
