ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by D.
Anderson):
On
February
2,
1984
Petitioners filed a motion for
modification of paragraphs
(1)(d)
and
(2)(d)
of the Board’s
December 29,
1983 Order which granted Petitioners’ variances from
sewer dischage criteria, effluent and water quality standards.
The modifications requested would:
decrease the frequency of
monitoring at the plant discharge from daily to three times per
week;
and,
remove the requirement of daily monitoring at the
treatment plant outfall, allowing Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency discretion as
to frequency.
Searle has
monitored thrice weekly for much of the last year.
The treatment
plant outfall
is presently monitored five times per week pursuant
to NPDJ~Spermit condition.
The modified Order would allow
continuation of this.
Petitioners state that the Illinois
Environmental Protection Agency agrees with these changes.
The
motion
is granted.
Paragraph
(l)(d) of the Order of December 29,
1983 is
modified to read as follows:
d)
Petitioners
shall monitor their discharge and the
stream for the following:
total dissolved solids,
sulfate,
chloride, sodium and flow.
The monitoring
frequency shall be weekly at locations downstream of
Park Forest South Utility Company’s outfall and three
time per week at Petitioners’ discharge to the sewer.
Paragraph
(2)(d) of the Order of December 29,
1983 is
modified to read as follows:
d)
Petitioner shall monitor its effluent for the
parameters in paragraph (2)(c),
as
required in its
NPDES permit.
