ILLINOIS POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD
September
2,
1971
Opinion and Order of the Board
(by Mr. Currie):
These
cases
are all requests
for variances
to permit ,open
burning either
for the destruction of dead and diseased trees,
for training in firefighting techniques,
or for the testing of
flares,
experimental incinerators,
and
the like.
We have today
adopted
a new regulation which,
in the interest of relieving
the Board of the considerable burden of passing on each such re-
quest, provides that the Agency may grant permits for
such open
burning provided that certain specified conditions are met.
Consequently we dismiss these cases and remit the petitioners
to the permit procedure established under
the new regulations,
a
copy of which will be sent to the parties with
this opinion.
I, Regina
E.
Ryan, Clerk of
the Pollution Control Board,
certify
that the Board adopted the above Opinion and Order this
2nd
day of September
,
1971.
